frigid winter plays havoc for golfer... 

  • Spring Hill and Brooksville shuddered though an extraordinary frigid January and February 2010. A cold snap in Florida is common, but below-freezing temperatures so early in the season and so long enduring is unusual, say meteorologists and local weather watchers. These photos were taken around Oak Hills Golf Course when temperatures fell five nights in a row below the freezing mark - and it was reported to be in the teens the morning these photos were taken.

a memorial service for ron...

  • A memorial plaque was placed alongside the 1st tee box where Ron Biedenkapp frequently teed-off during his many years of running the Wednesday and Friday golf leagues. Ron, who passed away December 23, 2008 had been a member of the Oak Hills Golf Club staff for 20 years. A memorial at the 1st tee was attended by his family, friends and staff members in July 2009.

annual outing...

  • Sunday, June 14, 2009, the Oak Hills Unit #23 Home Owner's Association held its annual BBQ and Golf Outing at Oak Hills Golf Club. Over one hundred members of the Association attended the event. Pit Boss Bar-B-Q catered the noon meal. The "best ball scramble" golf event followed with 39 residents participating. The BBQ and golf outing has been a very popular event. Each year it allows neighbors to establish and renew friendships

  • annual Monty Golf Tournament was held on Saturday, June 28th, at Oak Hills Golf Club in Spring Hill.

Monty Farrell (shown in the first two photos) was a registered nurse who came to Spring Hill Florida in 1994 from Cape Breton Island, Canada. He worked at Oak Hill Hospital and Bayonet Point Hospital in the Telemetry area, Emergency Room, Cardiac Cath Lab and in Open Heart Surgery.  

Monty died at the age of 36 June 30, 2007 on Oak Hill Golf Course.  

Shortly after his death a tree was planted in his honor near the 11th green. One year later, friends and coworkers organized the 1st Annual Monty Golf Tournament

Playing in the Monty Golf Tournament and standing next to the tree planted in Monty's honor are John Hubanks, Richard Massicotte, Paul McCarthy and Ed Lietch. The tree is next to the 11th green.

 Arriving at the 11th green are Oak Hills homeowner Richard Lavigne, Monty's brother, Chad Farrell, Monty's father, David Farrell and a friend, Nicolas Sehl. The three flew down with from Cape Breton Island, Canada for the tournament along with Monty's mother.

  • Tom Hebert and Cheryl Paradis, Oak Hills Golf Club residents, had the extraordinary opportunity to introduce this game of golf to 22 young players. The middle schools have golf teams every fall. Usually only 6 to 10 players get to be on the team. Tom and Cheryl wanted to allow any student at West Hernando Middle School to have the opportunity to learn the game of golf, not just compete in it. When the class was over some of the students expressed their thanks in drawings. Below are some of the drawings made by the students and sent to Oak Hills Golf Club for Oak Hill's generous sponsorship of their team!
